About

1983 Seafair Sea Galley Emerald Cup Medallion "Atlas Van Lines Winner 1982"

Additional Notes

Seafair is a summer festival held in Seattle, Washington, and continues to this day. One of major events that take place is the Seafair Cup, which is a race on Lake Washington with hydroplane boats. In 1983, it was known as the Seafair Sea Galley Emerald Cup. Racer Chip Hanauer piloted the Atlas Van Lines sponsored hydroplane boat, which had won the event the year before. He posted the fastest qualifying time at 134.39 mph, and won Heat 1B, but lost the final race due to mechanical problems. It is unknown if this copper medal was awarded to Chip Hanauer, himself, or if it belonged to one of the staff.

As all items are donated, this product may arrive with minor defects that are not pictured.
